The African Union (AU) is a continental organization consisting of the African Countries created in 2002 in Durban, South African, under Sirte Declaration on September 9^th, 1999. The African Union was established to replace the Organization of African Unity (OAU). The establishment of these organizations took place on July 2003 at the Maputo Summit in Mozambique.

One of the objectives of the African Union is to promote democracy, human rights and development across Africa, by increasing foreign investment.

The African Union owns and manages the organization of the African Games.

The Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa is an international organization headquartered in Abuja, Nigeria that unites the 54 National Olympics Committees of Africa.

The ANOCA was created on June 28^th, 1981 in Lome by AnaniMatthia and Juan Antonio Samaranch with the aid of YdnekatchewTessema. It has then carried the name of the Pan African Olympic Institute for Sports, Youth, Human Development and Promotion of Olympic Values.

Missions:

• Encourage mediation and conciliation between NOCs and governments;
• Lay the foundations for an ambitious sports policy;
• Provide young athletes with an environment conducive to success;
• Encourage sports initiatives;
• Promote Olympic ideals and values in Africa;
• Take part in the fight against doping, corruption, violence and pandemics;
• Work to bring peoples together through sports, to spread peace in Africa.

The Association of African Sports Confederations (AASC) is an organization for Sports in Africa, currently headquartered in Abuja, Nigeria. It carries outs its activities through the General Assembly, which operates as the supreme body of the Association, and an Executive Bureau. The Association may, where necessary, set up specialized or ad hoc standing committees to assist it in performing its functions.

Missions:

• Promote mutual understanding, cooperation and support among African sports confederations;
• Promote sporting ethics, fair-play and integrity in the management of sport activities in Africa;
• Promote and encourage women’s participation in sport practice and the management of sports structures;
• Fosterexchanges of experience about administrative and technical organization;
